Participation in research projects:

• Daidalos - Member of the 6th FP integrated project (IP) named Daidalos, especially in the workpackage called "Pervasive Systems", in which a network oriented context-awereness and personalisation architecture will be defined and developed.


• Heywow - A national project including Sun Microsystems and Sony Ericsson that was conceived and led by DLR. The objective was to develop a context-aware (in particular, but not limited to location-aware) service platform. Research focus was on the situation-aware usage of hybrid network technologies (Bluetooth, WLAN, GSM, GPRS), smart data distribution and to make use of enduser devices (particularly mobile phones) as computing platform for local services. The Heywow system has been successfully demonstrated in a real-world testbed in a historic city near Munich.


• UV-Check - The UV-Check service is a simple location based service and enables you to access the current sunburntime at your current location anywhere in Europe. The service may be used via SMS from your mobile phone, or via any Internet PC at www.uv-check.de


• GalileoNAV Measurement Campaign - The aim of the GalileoNAV measurement campaign was the determination of several characteristic parameters of the transmission channel from the satellites of the European satellite navigation system Galileo to the receiver in urban and sub-urban environments. For these purposes a Zeppelin NT has been used to behave like a future satellite. Specific broadband signals have been broadcasted from the Zeppelin to the ground, where they were received and captured from a special mobile receiver applying specific movement pattern.


• Multimedia Car Platform (MCP) - This 5th FP EU IST project led by Deutsche Telekom developed and demonstrated a first HW and SW platform for automotive multimedia and location based services. DLR led the workpackage "Mobile Platform". A demonstrator integrated in a BMW car has been presented at the IFA 2001 in Berlin.
