Location & Access

Oberpfaffenhofen is located about 20 km south-west of Munich (capital of Bavaria), in county Starnberg, which is famous for its lakes and natural beauty. In total there are five lakes near Oberpfaffenhofen: 'Weßlinger See' (the smallest one), 'Wörthsee', 'Pilsensee', 'Ammersee', and 'Starnberger See' (the biggest one) which provide many opportunities in summer (swimming, sailing) and in winter (scating, ice-hockey). The German Alps are located about 60 km from Oberpfaffenhofen, where in winter people enjoy skying, for instance in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the city of the Fourth Olympic Winter Games. As far as sightseeing is possible, the 'Kloster Andechs' (about 10 km away) has to be mentioned, one of the oldest monasteries in Bavaria, famous for its strong and tasty bavarian beer. For trips slightly further away (50-100 km) one may suggest e.g. 'Schloß Neuschwanstein', 'Schloß Linderhof', and the 'Chiemesee'.
